Polish wind farms are producing significantly more energy than projected by the TSO’s forecasts via the daily network coordination plans. Interestingly, this is not only caused by windy autumn days. The trend can be seen in yearly aggregates – in a record year 2017, wind farms generated 2.75 TWh more than planned (23%). In 2019, despite a higher total generation, the forecasts were closer to actual values. Perhaps, the TSO updated the models used in the forecasting process. It seems that in 2020 wind energy will again positively surprise us (which cannot be told about coal – see our last graph of the month).
